SF Biz Times seeks a breaking news reporter

This position will be Hybrid in the office/market 3 days per week, and those days can be flexible in consultation with your manager.

A San Francisco Business Times reporter is the beating heart of the organization and the business, with the vital task of pumping news, information and life into our products on all platforms. First and foremost, reporters must establish themselves as the go-to source of news, data and perspective in their assigned area of coverage.

The Breaking News and General Assignment reporter will serve as the newsroom’s rapid response and all-purpose field reporter. This versatile reporter will balance speed and accuracy across a wide variety of stories.

The top mission: to own audience, by every measure, in a tight deadline setting. Our reporters must marry strong traditional journalism skills – source building, sharp interviewing techniques, strong analytical skills, clear writing, document use – with online and social media know-how. The Business Journal brand provides the kind of access to business and community leaders that other journalists can only hope for, and it is the responsibility of our reporters to build on that access via sourcing. Whatever the platform, we strive to produce content that is accompanied by perspective and context. We don’t simply say what the news is. We say what it means, why it matters and what’s next.
