Skyborne Airline Academy has announced the launch of a new Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) programme tailored for aspiring pilots in India, aimed at strengthening the country’s growing commercial aviation workforce.
The programme, developed in accordance with Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) requirements, enables Indian cadets to complete US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) CPL training at Skyborne’s Vero Beach campus in Florida. Designed for individuals with no prior flying experience, the course offers Single and Multi-Engine certifications, along with Instrument privileges, preparing cadets for careers as airline-ready commercial pilots.
Open to Indian nationals aged between 18 and 30, successful applicants are expected to complete the training in approximately 12 months following assessment and enrolment.
Rina Basu, Regional Director, Asia Pacific at Skyborne, said the initiative comes at a crucial time for India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector.
“As India’s aviation sector continues to grow, Skyborne’s CPL programme opens the door for aspiring cadets to kickstart their pilot careers,” Basu said. “By bringing a proven US training model to Indian cadets, we’re creating a direct, high-quality pathway to becoming a professional pilot.”
She added that the expansion of airline fleets and routes across India has created strong demand for skilled pilots, making it an opportune moment for cadets to begin training.
“Based at our FAA-approved Vero Beach campus, cadets will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and optimal flying conditions as they prepare to take to the skies with the very best in the industry,” she said.
Applications for the CPL programme are now open for candidates based in India.
