UPDATE: Firefighters fight scrap pile fire at Springfield recycling business | News


UPDATE:

The fire started as employees were stacking a pile of recyclables.

Workers at Sangamon Mass Transit District (SMTD), a warehouse in front of the scrap yard, said they heard a loud bang and then saw flames. 

The Springfield Fire Department (SFD) say that they have the fire under control and are making sure that other parts of scrap, especially underneath the piles, are not still on fire.

No injuries have been reported as of this posting.
