German Traveller’s Linguistic Flair for India Goes Viral, Captivating Millions
A heartwarming video featuring a German traveller, Rainer Krack, effortlessly conversing in Hindi, Bhojpuri, and Marathi has taken the internet by storm, showcasing his profound affection for India. Krack, who has reportedly visited the subcontinent approximately 150 times, has cultivated a deep appreciation for the nation’s diverse languages, culinary delights, and rich cultural tapestry.
The viral footage, shared on Instagram by Shubham Jain, captures Krack in conversation with a woman named Tanya about his extensive travels to India. Speaking fluently in Hindi, he expressed his adoration for the country, endearingly describing it as a “jannat” (paradise) for vegetarians, attributing this sentiment to the incredible variety of vegetarian food available across India.
The interaction took an amusing and delightful turn when another woman present inquired if Krack could speak Marathi. To the surprise and delight of those present, and indeed, millions online, Krack responded not in Marathi, but by spontaneously breaking into fluent Bhojpuri.
Beyond his linguistic prowess, Krack also shared details about several books he has authored in German, all centered on India and its myriad cultures. He described his literary works as being about “India ke bhin bhin sanskritiyon ke baare mei hai” (about India’s different cultures).

According to Shubham Jain, Krack is a German national who currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand. His journey of exploring India spans many years, during which he has not only travelled extensively but also dedicated himself to learning various Indian languages. Jain noted that Krack’s linguistic talents were nurtured during his university years, a foundation he has continuously built upon through his frequent and immersive visits to India.
The online community has been particularly charmed by Krack’s impeccable Hindi and the unexpected, yet delightful, switch to Bhojpuri. Many viewers commented on how his deep affection for India resonated as if he were Indian himself. One user playfully remarked, “That ‘Maa Kasam’ proves he is Indian,” highlighting a culturally significant phrase he used in the video.
