An “inspirational” headteacher who found fame on the television show Educating Cardiff has been banned from teaching after she changed school term dates to go on a cruise holiday and used a car bought with school funds to go on personal trips.
Award-winning headteacher Joy Ballard also used school funds to purchase a karaoke machine, two televisions and camping equipment, a tribunal has found.
The 59-year-old was the headteacher of Willows High when it featured in the Channel 4 documentary Educating Cardiff in 2015. The series showed her turning around one of the city’s worst-performing schools when she was in the top job there. Full story here.
