A teenager has been charged in connection with a stabbing at Barry Island on Bank Holiday Monday.

Emergency services were called to the seaside town on May 25 following reports that a stabbing took place on one of the hottest days of the year with thousands of people heading to the beach.

A 17-year-old boy suffered life-changing injuries in the incident and underwent a leg amputation, South Wales Police said earlier this week.

The boy remains under critical care at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The force has now said an 18-year-old man from the Riverside area of Cardiff has now been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place in connection with the incident. Full details here.
