The Indian Institute of Educational Theatre (IIET), Mysuru, is set to present a special weekend of Hindi theatre featuring two productions by Abhinay Gurukul, Jodhpur, on June 20 and 21 at 6:00 p.m. on the IIET premises, Hardwick School Campus on JLB Road here.

The first play, Album, written by Raghunandan Trivedi and designed and directed by Aru Swati Vyas, will be staged on Saturday.

The 60-minute production revolves around 34-year-old Manjari, who lives with and cares for her ageing father. While cleaning the house, she discovers an old family album that transports her into a world of cherished memories. Through these recollections, the audience witnesses the unconditional love, sacrifices, and tireless efforts of parents, especially a father who devoted his life to bringing happiness to his children. The play is a touching reflection on family bonds, gratitude, and remembrance, a press release from IIET said.

On Sunday, audiences can experience Sankraman, a 75-minute play based on the work of the late Kamtanath, also designed and directed by Aru and Swati Vyas.

The play unfolds through the perspectives of a father, a son, and a mother, weaving together the emotional complexities of an ordinary family. It explores the enduring conflict between generations, as a father seeks recognition for his struggles and sacrifices, while his son questions and challenges his worldview. The mother serves as the silent bridge between the two, offering a poignant lens through which the family’s truths emerge, the release added.

“Both performances promise powerful storytelling and compelling performances that will resonate with audiences across generations,” said Cheluvaraj of IIET.

Tickets are priced at ₹100 and are available on BookMyShow. For more information, contact: 9686892255.
