World Cup 2026: Henderson has surgery in USA after breaking arm


Henderson made one appearance as a substitute in England’s 2-0 group stage win over Panama, which saw him become the first men’s player to play at four World Cups.

The England players have started gathering in front of supporters after every win at the tournament to sing with the fans.

But it is is understood England manager Thomas Tuchel is set to instruct his players to avoid jumping over the hoardings to ensure there is no repeat of Henderson’s injury.

Henderson’s injury adds to manager Thomas Tuchel’s selection worries as he prepares for Saturday’s quarter-final against Norway in Miami on Saturday.

Tino Livramento was forced to withdraw through injury before the tournament, though he was replaced by Trevoh Chalobah.

Reece James has not played since picking up a hamstring problem in England’s opening game while Tuchel has had to manage Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka’s game time.

Back-up right-back Jarell Quansah missed the last-32 win over DR Congo with an ankle issue and now faces a suspension after being sent off against Mexico.

Only goalkeepers are allowed to be replaced after serious injury or illness during the World Cup.
