CGHS Refutes Viral Fake Notice Regarding Wellness Centre Closures
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) has officially dismissed a viral notice claiming that all CGHS Wellness Centres across the country would remain closed from August 27 to August 31, 2026. The fraudulent circular had falsely alleged that the closures were necessary due to the deployment of Medical Officers for the upcoming NEET PG 2026 examination duty.
Official Clarification
In a strongly worded circular, the Directorate of CGHS clarified that the document circulating on social media is entirely unauthorized and did not originate from the department. The CGHS confirmed that the notice, which misused the official name and logo of the organization, is misleading and factually incorrect.
"It has come to the notice of the Directorate that an unauthorized notice bearing the name and logo of CGHS is being circulated," the official statement read. The department further emphasized that all Wellness Centres will continue to operate according to their regular, prescribed working schedule throughout the dates mentioned in the fake notification.
Maintaining Uninterrupted Healthcare Services
The Directorate took the opportunity to reassure beneficiaries that any necessary deployment of personnel for official duties would be managed through internal administrative adjustments. The department is committed to ensuring that there is no disruption to healthcare services for CGHS members.
To ensure the message reaches all stakeholders, Additional Directors of CGHS have been instructed to disseminate this clarification to every Wellness Centre under their jurisdiction and to coordinate staffing arrangements to maintain seamless service delivery.
Strict Advisory to Public and Staff
The CGHS has issued a strict directive to all its offices and officials to refrain from displaying or circulating the unauthorized notice. The Directorate is treating the misuse of its branding—including its name and official logo—with the utmost seriousness and has invited the public to report any information regarding the source of the disinformation for further investigation and legal action.
How to Verify Official Information
To avoid falling prey to misinformation, the CGHS has advised beneficiaries and the general public to rely exclusively on verified sources for updates. Official information can be accessed via:
- The official CGHS website.
- The myCGHS 2.0 application.
- Direct communication with the relevant local CGHS authorities.
The health authority continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to remain vigilant against digital misinformation.
