RailTel Promotes Linguistic Diversity and Hindi Usage at Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in Kolkata

KOLKATA – In a significant move to foster the progressive use of Hindi as the Official Language while celebrating India’s rich linguistic landscape, the RailTel Corporation of India recently hosted the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in Kolkata. The event served as a platform for experts and officials to deliberate on the evolution of official communication in the digital age.

Promoting Language and Innovation

The event commenced with a traditional inauguration featuring the National Song, the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, and a soul-stirring Saraswati Vandana. Shri Zakir Hussain Siddiqui, Principal Executive Director of the RailTel Eastern Region, opened the proceedings by highlighting the organization’s ongoing efforts to integrate Hindi more deeply into its operational framework.

During the conference, RailTel showcased its recent achievements in official language implementation, followed by the formal launch of the latest edition of its magazine, Tavishi.

Balancing Technology and Tradition

A highlight of the Sammelan was an insightful session titled “Artificial Intelligence and Official Language: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Future,” conducted by Shri Balendu Sharma ‘Dadhich’, CEO of AILGO Technologies, Dubai. The presentation sparked a dialogue on how modern AI tools can be leveraged to simplify and enhance the use of Hindi in government and corporate documentation.

To encourage active participation, the event featured various competitive segments, including news-reading sessions and Hindi quiz competitions, aimed at fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and proficiency among the staff.

Commitment to Diversity

Addressing the delegates, RailTel CMD Shri Sanjai Kumar underscored the dual responsibility of the corporation. While he urged employees from non-Hindi-speaking regions to embrace Hindi in their day-to-day administrative tasks, he was quick to emphasize that this initiative should exist alongside a deep-seated respect for India’s broader linguistic diversity.

“The goal is to move forward progressively,” Shri Kumar noted, highlighting that linguistic harmony is essential for the collective growth of the nation.

Conclusion

The Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan concluded with a clear roadmap for RailTel: to utilize technology-driven approaches to language development while remaining an inclusive organization. By balancing the adoption of new tools like AI with a commitment to India’s varied cultural roots, RailTel continues to position itself as a forward-thinking entity in the public sector.
