Kangana Ranaut Takes a Dig at Abhijeet Dipke Over English Proficiency and Credentials
Actor and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has launched a sharp, indirect critique against Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), sparking a fresh debate over elitism and communication skills.
The controversy began when Ranaut shared an Instagram reel that juxtaposed her own public speaking clips with footage of Dipke. The reel explicitly highlighted their educational backgrounds and linguistic abilities with the caption: “12th pass Kangana Ranaut vs Boston University CJP Dipke. English level: One is fire, the other needs a reboot.”
A History of Linguistic Snobbery
Ranaut, who has previously been vocal about the “English-speaking elitism” prevalent in the Bollywood film industry, used the opportunity to revisit past slights. She famously recounted being mocked for her command of the language early in her career, notably pointing to an appearance on the talk show Koffee With Karan.
Reflecting on those experiences, the MP remarked, “What I learned from years of fights with the film mafia is that no outsider will ever be mocked for not speaking English again.” She defended her own trajectory, noting, “Even at 24, after being openly bullied, humiliated and mocked, I showed grace, sophistication, articulation, and humility—traits which English-speaking, gossipy aunties with so-called great upbringings can never possess.”
The Clash of Credibility
The rivalry extends beyond language barriers into the realm of political and professional credibility. Ranaut took direct aim at Dipke’s persona, questioning his claim of being a student. “I googled this person, and he is 28 years old. How he claims to be a student, I have no clue!” she wrote.
Comparing their respective achievements, the actor-turned-politician added, “I have been in public life for the last 20 years. At his age, I already had two National Awards.”
Dipke’s Response
For his part, Dipke recently addressed his English fluency on social media, admitting to followers that he often feels self-conscious when speaking on camera. Following this admission, he shifted his focus toward public policy, writing to various state education ministers to demand transparency regarding government school infrastructure, teacher vacancies, and funding allocations.
Balancing Act
Ranaut, who is currently serving her first term as a Member of Parliament, acknowledged that the transition from cinema to politics has been demanding. Addressing the critics of her performance, she explained that her struggle is a result of a heavy workload: “I am a filmmaker, performing artist, producer, screenwriter, and entrepreneur. Someone like [Dipke], who is totally useless and unemployed, will never understand what it means to be in massive demand at any age.”
As the exchange continues to trend online, it highlights the ongoing tension between traditional political gatekeepers and the modern influencer-activist ecosystem, with language and professional history serving as the primary battlegrounds.
