RRB NTPC UG CBT 2 Exam Set for September 17: Key Dates, Pattern, and Selection Process
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have officially announced the schedule for the second-stage computer-based test for undergraduate-level positions under CEN 07/2025. Following the successful conclusion and declaration of the CBT 1 results, the RRB NTPC UG CBT 2 examination is now confirmed to take place on September 17, 2026.
This recruitment drive is aimed at filling 3,058 undergraduate vacancies, including roles such as Commercial Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Junior Clerk, and Trains Clerk.
Important Dates and Admit Card Information
The RRBs released the official notification regarding the CBT 2 schedule on August 24, 2026, and subsequently made individual scorecards available for candidates on August 26. As the examination date approaches, candidates should mark their calendars for the following events:

Competitive Selection Process
The scale of this examination reflects the high demand for Indian Railway positions. Out of the over 6.3 million (63,27,474) candidates who initially registered, 45,898 have been shortlisted for the second stage. This shortlist represents 15 times the number of total vacancies, meaning roughly one in every 138 applicants has moved on to this competitive phase.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The CBT 2 will be a 90-minute examination consisting of 120 objective-type questions, totaling 120 marks. The distribution is as follows:
- General Awareness: 50 marks
- Mathematics: 35 marks
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 35 marks
Candidates are cautioned that there is a negative marking scheme in place; one-third of a mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer provided.
Mandatory Aadhaar Verification
Strict security protocols will be enforced at all examination centers. RRBs have made Aadhaar-linked biometric verification mandatory. Candidates are strongly advised to ensure that their Aadhaar biometric lock is disabled prior to arriving at the venue to ensure a seamless entry process.
For the final phase of the selection process, which includes the Typing Skill Test or the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), the board has tentatively penciled in a start date of December 4, 2026.
