NIT Rourkela Records Stellar Placements for 2025-26 with Highest CTC at Rs 1.31 Crore
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has once again demonstrated its academic prowess and industry relevance, announcing impressive results for its 2025-26 placement season. Despite navigating a challenging global economic climate marked by industry-wide layoffs, the institute successfully facilitated 1,340 placement offers for its graduating students.
Record-Breaking B.Tech Performance
The B.Tech program emerged as a standout performer, achieving an exceptional placement rate of 95.47%. The highlight of the season was a staggering highest Cost-to-Company (CTC) offer of Rs 131 lakh per annum (LPA). Further underscoring the quality of talent, over 83 students secured annual packages exceeding Rs 30 LPA.
The average CTC for B.Tech graduates stood at Rs 15.33 LPA, with a median of Rs 12.50 LPA. Several engineering disciplines, including Biomedical, Chemical, Ceramic, Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering, reported a 100% placement rate for registered candidates, while others such as Civil, Biotechnology, and Electronics maintained a stellar record of over 90%.
M.Tech and Internship Milestones
Postgraduate students also saw significant success. M.Tech candidates recorded a highest CTC of Rs 46.38 LPA in Computer Science and Engineering, followed by Rs 44 LPA in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Beyond full-time roles, the institute saw historic engagement in its internship programs. Students secured 364 six-month internships and 258 summer internships—the highest number recorded in the institute’s history. With the highest internship stipend reaching Rs 1.50 lakh per month, these opportunities often serve as a bridge to full-time employment via Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs).
A Diverse Recruiter Landscape
The NIT Rourkela placement drive attracted 374 recruiters, with approximately 50% of these companies engaging with the institute for the first time. The recruitment landscape was highly diversified, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of the institute’s curriculum:
- Core Sector: 41.69% of total offers
- Software and IT Services: 17.79%
- Power and Heavy Industry: 13.77%
- BFSI: 11.52%
- Analytics and Consulting: 9.5%
Industry giants such as Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Larsen and Toubro, Accenture, Deloitte USI, Texas Instruments, and Qualcomm were among the many recruiters scouting for talent. Roles spanned a wide spectrum, including Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Data Analyst, and Graduate Trainee Engineer.

By maintaining strong industry ties and fostering a robust ecosystem for core-sector and software roles, NIT Rourkela continues to cement its position as a premier technical institution in India, ensuring that its graduates remain highly sought after by top-tier global and domestic organizations.
