Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process
To be eligible for the Office Assistant position, candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline and fall within the age bracket of 18 to 28 years. Proficiency in the local language of the state or region where the RRB is located is a mandatory requirement. Age relaxations apply as per government norms: five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD candidates.
The selection process for the Office Assistant post is distinct as it does not include an interview round. Candidates must qualify through a preliminary exam, followed by a main examination, which serves as the final merit-determining stage.
Exam Pattern and Salary Structure
The preliminary examination is a 45-minute test consisting of 80 questions (40 Reasoning and 40 Numerical Ability) worth 80 marks, with a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. The main examination is a two-hour comprehensive test covering Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi, and Computer Knowledge, totaling 200 marks.
Successful candidates can expect a basic pay of approximately Rs 19,900, with in-hand monthly earnings typically ranging between Rs 28,000 and Rs 30,000, depending on the posting location and specific bank allowances.
