Urgent Appeal for Information After Newborn Found Deceased in Sydney’s West

AUBURN, NSW – New South Wales Police have launched an urgent investigation and a public appeal for information after the body of a newborn baby boy was discovered in a residential rubbish bin in Sydney’s south-west on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to a property on Harrow Road in Auburn at approximately 11:20 a.m. following reports that a body had been located. Upon arrival, officers from the Auburn Police Area Command confirmed the tragic discovery of a newborn infant.

A crime scene was immediately established at the location as forensic specialists and detectives began combing the area for evidence. The investigation is currently in its early stages as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police have expressed “serious concerns” regarding the health and wellbeing of the child’s mother. Authorities are focusing their efforts on locating her, urging her to seek medical attention immediately.

“Our primary concern is the welfare of the mother, who may be in need of urgent medical care,” a police spokesperson said. “We are urging her to go to the nearest hospital or to make contact with emergency services as soon as possible.”

Detectives are now calling on the public to assist with the investigation. Anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Harrow Road, or those with relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage captured between Monday morning and the time of the discovery, are encouraged to come forward.
