In an era where box-office dynamics are rapidly evolving, Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu has drawn a firm line in the sand. “Was that a dream era?” Pannu mused during her conversation with Suchin Mehrotra. “Someone like me wouldn’t have a career if this was the time where only this kind of stuff was getting made. I feel privileged to have had the liberty to start when I did.”

The actor shared a candid admission regarding her internal thoughts while monitoring recent releases: “I was looking at some of the films released over the last couple of months and I thought, ‘Is it time for me to retire?’ Because I would prefer retiring than doing those kinds of films.”

Prioritizing Filmography Over Trends

Taapsee clarified that she recognizes that violent, high-octane films cater to a specific audience and possess their own market. However, she emphasized that her passion for acting is not blind. For Pannu, the longevity of her body of work is the ultimate priority.

“I firmly believe there is a filmography,” she explained. “Times will change, but the filmography will not. Ten years later, the genre will change, but my films will stay. If someone looks back at what I’ve done, I don’t want it to be embarrassing for me or anyone attached to me. I will hold my filmography closer than the fleeting trends of the times.”
