Colombo, Sri Lanka – Amidst the serious preparations for the upcoming Test series, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja injected a dose of much-needed levity into India’s warm-up match against the Sri Lanka Cricket XI. His spontaneous and near-perfect imitation of spinner Kuldeep Yadav‘s bowling action from the stands left onlookers, including Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, in stitches.

The left-handed batsman crafted a classy unbeaten 142, capitalising on a batting-friendly surface.
Padikkal displayed exceptional control and stroke-making, hitting 18 boundaries and appearing comfortable against both pace and spin. His innings was crucial, especially after opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for a duck early in the innings. Padikkal then forged a vital 96-run partnership for the second wicket with KL Rahul, setting a strong foundation.
Continuing his impressive form, Padikkal reached his century in just 121 balls while batting alongside Jadeja, who also contributed a valuable 63 before retiring. While Padikkal thrived, some established names faced challenges. Rishabh Pant had a forgettable outing, managing only two runs before being caught at long-off while attempting an aggressive shot against Ramesh Mendis. Dhruv Jurel also struggled to make an impact, falling for one after an inside edge was taken at short square leg, highlighting difficulties against off-spin.
Following these setbacks, Manav Suthar stepped up to join Jadeja, adding a crucial 76 runs and helping to repair the innings, showcasing the depth of the squad. Later, Padikkal returned to the crease, adding four more boundaries alongside Saransh Jain, who retired after contributing 22 runs, further solidifying India’s position.
