Amaal Mallik Announces Break from Film Music to Prioritize Health and Healing
Renowned singer and music composer Amaal Mallik has officially announced a hiatus from the film music industry. The composer, who recently garnered attention for his work on the track “Yeh Awarapan” from the upcoming Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2, shared the news via a heartfelt statement on X (formerly Twitter) this past Thursday.
A Journey Toward Personal Recovery
In a lengthy and candid post, Mallik explained that the decision stems from a need to focus on his physical and mental well-being. “I am all good, and I will go all the way in, this time, to do what is best for me and only do what is important to my heart and for my health,” he wrote.
Emphasizing that this is not a permanent retirement, he added, “Need a break for my mind, body, soul, and overall physical healing. Need to rise, recuperate, and bounce back soon with a heart full of melodies for you all my dearest #Amaalians.”
Clarifying Future Projects
While he will not be undertaking new film compositions for the remainder of the year, Mallik clarified that music he has already recorded will continue to be released in tandem with the respective films. However, he noted that the release schedules for some of these projects remain uncertain.
“Some of these are smaller-budget films made with good intentions,” he explained. “However, such movies can face difficulties in securing theatrical screens, leaving the fate and release of their music uncertain.”
A Plea for Space
Addressing his dedicated fan base, whom he calls “Amaalians,” the composer requested privacy and patience. He explicitly asked fans not to “pester” him with questions regarding his future projects or the duration of his break.
“Please, I request you not to pester me any further. Will update as I get to know. Music se cinema tak ka safar mujhe bohot door le aaya hai, ab music ki taraf wapas chalne laga hoon… Ab mujhe Vida Karo,” he concluded, referencing his recent hit song.
Fan Support and Industry Context
The response from his fans has been overwhelmingly supportive. Following the announcement, social media was flooded with well-wishes from followers urging the composer to put his health above his professional commitments. Mallik’s most recent project, Awarapan 2, is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt.
