Apple Confirms September 9 Event: Foldable ‘iPhone Ultra’ and Next-Gen Wearables Expected

Apple has officially confirmed that its highly anticipated fall product launch will take place on Wednesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. As the tech giant prepares to showcase its latest innovations, anticipation is centering on a major leap forward in hardware, including the debut of its first-ever foldable smartphone.

Industry analysts expect the company to unveil a total of six primary products, headlined by the latest iteration of its flagship handset lineup and a brand-new entry in the foldable category.

The iPhone 18 Series and the Foldable Future

The spotlight will be firmly on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both devices are rumored to feature the cutting-edge A20 Pro chip, a refined, smaller Dynamic Island, and an updated, simplified Camera Control button. The Pro Max model is expected to be slightly thicker than its predecessor, a design adjustment reportedly required to house a larger battery and a sophisticated variable aperture camera system—a feature likely exclusive to the top-tier model.

Perhaps the most significant announcement is the rumored iPhone Ultra. This foldable flagship is expected to feature a 7.7-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch outer display. To support the unique form factor, Apple is reportedly launching an optimized version of iOS 27, which will enable iPad-like multitasking features such as side-by-side app functionality. Unlike the standard Pro models, the iPhone Ultra is tipped to utilize a Touch ID-enabled power button rather than Face ID.

Upgrades for the Wrist and Ears

Apple is also expected to refresh its wearable ecosystem. The Apple Watch Series 12 is rumored to arrive with a faster S11-series chip, improved battery efficiency, and a nostalgic return to a ceramic case option. Alongside it, the Apple Watch Ultra 4 will likely focus on enhanced satellite capabilities, allowing users to send photos via Messages and access Apple Maps without cellular connectivity.

Rounding out the core lineup are the AirPods 5, which are expected to launch in two distinct tiers: a standard model and a version featuring active noise cancellation.

Further Possibilities on the Horizon

While the September event is traditionally reserved for mobile hardware and wearables, the rumor mill suggests that a secondary event in October could bring further updates. Potential future announcements include a redesigned iMac with an M6 chip, a refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro, and the MacBook Ultra—a heavily rumored, touch-screen-enabled laptop.

Apple’s ecosystem expansion may also touch the home, with potential updates to the Apple TV and the HomePod mini, as well as the long-rumored “Home Hub” smart display, designed to act as a centralized command station for the connected home.

With the Apple event announced for early September, the tech industry is bracing for a significant shift in mobile hardware design and AI-integrated performance that could set the tone for the company’s trajectory through 2027.
