At least 1 killed in sinking boat in San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz; SFFD rescue underway

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — At least one person was killed after an incident on a boat that sank in the San Francisco Bay Tuesday afternoon, prompting a massive response from crews working to rescue people.

The incident happened in the Bay, in between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. SKY7 video showed the boat fully sinking underwater.

An ABC7 Eyewitness News photographer on scene confirms at least one person was killed.

The Coast Guard tells ABC7 Eyewitness News that first responders are taking the boat passengers to Gashouse Cove Marina — which is near the Marina Safeway.
