'Awarapan 2' box office collection day 3: The Emraan Hashmi film inches towards Rs 100 crore, races ahead of 'Batwara 1947', becomes the 8th highest grosser of Hindi cinema in 2026

The cinematic landscape is currently abuzz with the remarkable performance of Emraan Hashmi‘s latest venture, ‘Awarapan 2’. This sequel, highly anticipated by audiences and critics alike, has defied initial expectations, largely propelled by the enduring cult status of its predecessor’s musical score. While the original ‘Awarapan’ didn’t achieve significant box office success upon its initial release, its music resonated deeply over time, fostering a passionate fanbase that eagerly awaited its follow-up. This pent-up demand was palpable, with the film surpassing the entire lifetime collection of its predecessor on its very first day of release.

The film strategically capitalized on the Independence Day weekend, which undoubtedly contributed to its impressive opening figures. On its debut, a Friday, ‘Awarapan 2’ garnered a substantial Rs 22 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. This momentum continued into Saturday, where the film experienced a significant 55 percent surge in earnings, raking in an impressive Rs 33.75 crore. This growth can also be attributed to an increased number of screenings; while day one saw 9033 shows, day two expanded to 10,496 shows across the country. However, Sunday witnessed a slight dip in both show count, reduced to 9403, and collections, which settled at Rs 26 crore. Despite this minor retraction, the film’s cumulative net collection in India now stands at a formidable Rs 81.75 crore.

The coming days, particularly Monday, will serve as a crucial litmus test for ‘Awarapan 2’, determining its sustained performance throughout the week. Nevertheless, its initial run has been nothing short of spectacular, significantly outpacing other releases. For instance, it has far outstripped ‘Batwara 1947’, which only managed to collect Rs 7.25 crore on its third day, bringing its total to a mere Rs 26.50 crore.

Considering its reported budget of Rs 45 crore, ‘Awarapan 2’ has already secured its status as a hit, achieving profitability within its opening weekend. The film is currently enjoying a substantial return on investment (ROI), a testament to its widespread appeal. Its exceptional performance has already cemented its place as the 8th successful Bollywood film of 2026. This rapid ascent has also made it the fastest Bollywood release of the year to attain this coveted “successful” status. ‘Awarapan 2’ now proudly shares this distinction with other notable successes of the year, including ‘Border 2’, ‘The Kerala Story 2’, ‘Dhurandhar 2’, ‘Bhooth Bangla’, ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past’, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, and ‘Dhamaal 4’. The film’s impressive box office collection figures underscore a promising trajectory for Hindi cinema in the current year.
