A father has died after being pulled from the water after a jet ski incident.

The victim, in his 50s, suffered serious injuries after being on the inflatable at Calshot near the New Forest National Park at 6pm on Sunday.

Coastguards rushed to the water after reports the man was struggling in the sea.

He was taken to hospital where he died on Monday.

The jet-ski rider and the two children were safely brought ashore, while the man on the inflatable needed urgent medical treatment.

The rider was not arrested.

A busy day on Sunday 28th June! Following a jet-ski incident NCI Calshot Tower gave commentary on the situation to HM Coastguard while RNLI Calshot Lifeboat were mobilised to bring the casualty from a rescuing vessel to the shore where both the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and a further ambulance were in attendance.

A Hampshire Police spokesman told Metro: ‘We were called at 6.08pm on Sunday 5 July with reports of a man in difficulty in the water off Calshot, New Forest.

‘Police attended along with other emergency services and the man, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital by the ambulance service, where he subsequently died on Monday 6 July.

‘His next of kin are aware, and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.’
