ILT20 CEO David White Steps Down After Three-Year Tenure
DUBAI: The International League T20 (ILT20) announced a major leadership change on Thursday, confirming that Chief Executive Officer David White will be stepping down from his role. White, who has been instrumental in the league’s foundational years, requested not to renew his contract as he prepares to return to his home country, New Zealand.
White took the helm of the league in September 2023, overseeing the strategic development of the tournament through its inaugural three seasons (2023–2025). His departure marks the end of a pivotal growth chapter for the UAE-based cricket competition.
A Legacy of Growth
During his tenure, White played a central role in elevating the tournament’s profile, helping it secure a reputation as a premier destination for world-class T20 talent. Under his leadership, the ILT20 rapidly established itself as a significant fixture on the global cricket calendar.
Khalid Al Zarooni, Chairman of the ILT20, expressed his gratitude for White’s dedication and professional impact on the organization. “The ILT20 team acknowledges the hard work and commitment of David White as the league’s CEO during his three-year stay and thanks him for his services,” Al Zarooni said in an official statement.
“Under White, the league made great progress and succeeded in establishing itself as one of the major tournaments in the world. He played a leading role in the league’s growth during his tenure, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” he added.
Reflecting on a Successful Stint
For White, the decision to leave was driven by a desire to return home following what he described as a “hugely successful” chapter of his career.
“I have decided to return to my home country, New Zealand, after three hugely successful years with the International League T20. I am grateful to the ILT20 for accepting my request,” White said. “I thoroughly enjoyed my stint at the league, which in recent years has grown into one of the top T20 tournaments in the world.”
Reflecting on his time in the UAE, White offered his appreciation to those who supported his vision. “I want to take this opportunity to thank the ILT20 management, the Emirates Cricket Board, my colleagues, tournament franchises, and partners for their tremendous work and support. I wish the ILT20 the very best in the years ahead.”
The league has yet to announce a successor to fill the vacancy left by White, but industry analysts expect the organization to move quickly to ensure stability as it prepares for future seasons.
