Profits from its Re Use sales across Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in Kent have been donated by FCC Environment to Kent-based charity, Porchlight.
As part of its commitment to Kent communities, the FCC Environment team that manages HWRCs in Kent on behalf of Kent County Council, has chosen Porchlight, along with two other local charities to donate £1,328 of its Re Use sales profits.
Porchlight is a Kent-based charity that was founded to help people facing the devastating effects of homelessness. Today, it also tackles the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality. It’s working towards a safe home and fairer future for everyone.
Vikki Sedgwick, Mid & East Kent Education and Communities Officer for FCC Environment, said: “We’re so pleased to be supporting this charity knowing that this donation will directly impact the lives of people that are struggling.
“We strive each day to divert items away from the waste and to give them a new home. The profits from selling these items in our pop up and Re Use shops to help impact and benefit charities within the communities we work is a huge added benefit.”
Hazel Eddy from Porchlight, said: “The support of FCC Environment will enable us to provide those living on the street with lifesaving support, from providing a proper meal for the first time in weeks, to emergency accommodation, to supportive services that help someone rebuild their life.
“Being homeless can have a catastrophic impact on physical and mental health, but thanks to donations like these our teams can support people across Kent to find safe and secure housing.”
