IWC Debuts Bold Purple Edition of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph for the Singapore Grand Prix
In the high-octane realm of Formula 1, where the margin between victory and defeat is often measured in thousandths of a second, precision is the only currency that matters. It is fitting, then, that IWC Schaffhausen has once again turned to its deep-rooted partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team to release a timepiece that embodies the sport’s relentless pursuit of performance and style.
Ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for October 11th, IWC has unveiled its most daring team watch to date: the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team in a striking new purple livery.
A Vibrant Evolution in Design
While IWC has maintained a long-standing relationship with Mercedes-Benz and the PETRONAS F1 team, their collaborative watches have historically leaned toward muted, technical aesthetics. This latest release, however, marks a departure into a bolder color palette.
The watch retains the familiar, ergonomically sound 41mm Grade 5 titanium case—known for its lightweight durability—measuring 14.5mm in height. The standout feature is undoubtedly the vibrant purple sunburst dial, which offers a dramatic contrast to the signature PETRONAS green accents used for the indices and markers.
To ensure optimal legibility under any lighting condition, the dial features blacked-out hands filled with PETRONAS-green Super-LumiNova. The functional, recessed subdials feature a refined snailed finish, while the double day-date window at 3 o’clock utilizes a matching teal-green digit color against a black background, maintaining a cohesive design language.
Engineering Excellence Under the Hood
Powering this chronograph is IWC’s robust, in-house Calibre 69385. This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and provides a reliable 46-hour power reserve. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, enthusiasts can admire the intricate finishings, including circular Côtes de Genève and polished screws.
A final, subtle nod to the partnership is found on the underside of the sapphire crystal, which features printed text in the iconic PETRONAS green, cementing the watch’s status as an official team instrument.
Ownership and Availability
Continuing the theme of bold expression, the timepiece is delivered on a matching purple rubber strap. Thanks to IWC’s proprietary EasX-Change system, owners can effortlessly swap the strap for a different style without the need for additional tools.
This stunning Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is not limited by production number, making it a permanent fixture for collectors and motorsport enthusiasts alike. It is priced at CHF 7,700 and serves as a testament to the enduring, high-speed synergy between haute horlogerie and elite motorsport.
