GPIF’s PE portfolio climbs 26% despite ‘challenging’ environment


Japan’s public pension giant Government Pension Investment Fund saw its private equity exposure grow 26 percent over the past year.

The $1.8 trillion pension’s private equity portfolio stood at ¥1.09 trillion ($6.7 billion; $5.9 billion), as of 31 March, up ¥224.4 billion – or 25.9 percent – from a year prior, according to its latest annual report.
