Goldy Brar Claims Responsibility for Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s Killing, Citing Drug Trafficking Allegations
NEW DELHI: In a startling development that adds a new layer of complexity to the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada, US-based gangster Goldy Brar has purportedly admitted to orchestrating the June 2023 murder of pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
In a leaked audio conversation with fellow pro-Khalistan figure Paramjit Singh Pamma, Brar—a key suspect wanted in India for multiple high-profile murders, including that of singer Sidhu Moosewala—claims that Nijjar was targeted specifically due to his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and his role in promoting substance abuse among youth.
The Motivation Behind the Hit
Intelligence sources have confirmed that the voice heard in the recording belongs to Brar. Throughout the conversation, the gangster expressed deep indignation over the impact of drug culture on the younger generation.
“Those who groomed and incited 16-to-17-year-olds to sell drugs… those who blackmailed young people into selling drugs and becoming informants… Nijjar supported and strengthened these individuals so that he could use them when necessary,” Brar is heard telling Pamma. “That’s why me and my team had to kill Nijjar… Good or bad, everyone has to face the consequences of their actions.”
Reframing the Assassination
This admission aligns with “Operation Hardball,” a coordinated US-Canada law enforcement crackdown aimed at dismantling transnational organized crime syndicates. The ongoing investigation has officially indicted both Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi for the murder of Nijjar, reframing the high-profile assassination—which previously sparked a major diplomatic rift—as a calculated gangland hit rather than a state-sponsored operation.
The investigation into the shooting also revealed that a “hit” order for Nijjar had been circulating on encrypted platforms utilized by contract killers for several weeks prior to the incident.
The Context of the Crime
Hardeep Singh Nijjar, 45, was fatally shot on June 18, 2023, in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia. Security footage from the scene captured the precision of the attack, showing a white sedan and a pickup truck moving in coordination just moments before the gunfire erupted.
Nijjar, who led the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), had his position within the group eventually filled by his associate, Arshdeep Singh, also known as Arsh Dala. Notably, in the leaked audio, Brar also claims responsibility for the September 2023 killing of Sukhdool Singh, alias “Sukha Duneke”—a close associate of Dala—who was murdered in the Winnipeg area.
As law enforcement agencies in North America continue their crackdown, these audio recordings provide significant evidence regarding the reach and internal violence of criminal networks operating across international borders.
