Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam) exhausted its entire box office run in India. The mythological drama, starring Siddharth Gupta, Sushmitha Bhat, Nivaashiyni Krishnan, and debutant Sanskruti Jayana, closed its full run at Rs. 34 crore nett at the Indian box office.
The movie debuted with Rs. 1.45 crore, with Rs. 40 lakh coming from previews. It further collected Rs. 12 crore in the first week, followed by Rs. 9.85 crore in the second, Rs. 6.50 crore in the third, and Rs. 3.85 crore in the fourth week. From there, the movie could only add Rs. 2 crore to the tally before leaving the cinemas.
Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the movie performed well considering the cast involved. However, the movie had relatively higher production costs, which turned out to be a major deciding factor for its fate at the box office. That said, Krishnavataram ended up being a failure, despite showing good growth in the first few weeks. Had the film promoted well, it might have seen much better theatrical run.
It was planned as the first movie in the Krishnavataram trilogy. Now, seeing its box office result, it will be interesting to see whether the makers will go on with the next two installments or not. There are a few examples where the original film struggled, but the sequel exploded at the box office, making the franchise profitable. Let’s see what happens with the Krishnavataram trilogy.
The Box Office Collections for Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hindi) in India are as follows:
