Mumbai: The Indian film fraternity gathered in solemn solidarity today at the Celebration Sports Club in Andheri West, Mumbai, to pay their final tributes to veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli. The director, a prominent figure in the Hindi film industry during the 1990s and early 2000s, passed away on August 25 at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

The prayer meet was marked by a heavy atmosphere of mourning as family, friends, and colleagues assembled to honor the legacy of the man behind iconic hits such as Phool Aur Kaante and Suhaag.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

Kuku Kohli’s wife, legendary actress Aruna Irani, arrived at the venue accompanied by family members. Visibly overcome with grief, she was supported by her loved ones as she entered the venue to hold space for her late husband.

The gathering saw a massive turnout from the Bollywood community, reflecting the deep respect Kohli commanded among his peers. Notable attendees included veteran actors Jackie Shroff and Anupam Kher, both of whom have shared a long association with the late filmmaker.

Throughout his prolific career, Kohli helmed several notable projects including Suhaag (1994), Haqeeqat (1995), and Kohraam (1991). As his career progressed into the late 90s and early 2000s, he continued to work on diverse projects such as Anari No. 1, Zulmi, and Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa. His final directorial effort, Woh Tera Naam Tha, arrived in 2004, marking the end of a consistent and impactful run in the industry.
