Mallika Sherawat Addresses ‘Fake’ Dress Allegations on The Traitors: “My Glamour is Creating Jealousy”
The second season of The Traitors has found itself mired in an unexpected fashion feud, as Bollywood star Mallika Sherawat hits back at claims regarding the authenticity of a luxury gown she wore on the show.
The controversy erupted during a recent episode involving cast members Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Rida Tharana, and Rhea Chakraborty. After Sherawat mentioned she had selected a green ensemble for the day, fellow contestant Shalini Passi cast doubt on the garment’s origin, specifically questioning whether it was a genuine Dolce & Gabbana piece.
“Just a week ago, I wore a green and gold dress of Dolce, and it is not like this,” Passi remarked on camera. “I went to adjust her mic and saw the brand. She is lying.” Passi, who has frequently touted her long-standing relationship with high-end luxury fashion, added that she has been wearing designer pieces since her late teens, implying her experience made her an authority on spotting authentic couture.
Sherawat, known for her candid persona, did not remain silent for long. Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a video addressing the "dress gate" drama with a mix of humor and defiance.
“We need to address the most important issue on Traitors right now: my green dress,” Sherawat joked in the clip. “I mean, I didn’t even realize that my dress would become such a huge topic of discussion.”
Rather than providing receipts or engaging in a direct defense regarding the brand, the actress opted to turn the tables on her critics. With a playful swipe at those questioning her style, she remarked, “If my dress, my figure, my glamour is causing a little bit of jealousy, I understand. Enjoy!” She further punctuated the post with the cheeky caption, “Dress meri, discussion sabka” (The dress is mine, but the discussion belongs to everyone).
As of now, the luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has not weighed in on the authenticity of the garment. While Passi has doubled down on her skepticism, Sherawat’s dismissive, lighthearted response appears to be her chosen strategy to navigate the friction.
What began as a trivial exchange between cast members has quickly escalated into a viral moment for the reality series. Whether the dress is a genuine designer piece or a misunderstanding remains unconfirmed, but for now, Sherawat’s unapologetic confidence has ensured that the "green dress" remains the most talked-about accessory of The Traitors season two.
