The incident happened at 7.46am this morning on the A1065, near the George and Dragon pub in Castle Acre.
A Norfolk Fire and Rescue water carrier, a white DAF truck, a black Mazda 2 and a white Mercedes Sprinter van were involved.
Emergency services, including fire, ambulance and air ambulance, attended the scene.
The driver of the DAF truck, a man in his 60s, died at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes van, a man in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, in a life-threatening condition, where he remains.
The driver of the Mazda and the crew in the fire engine were uninjured.
The road remains closed for repairs.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue confirmed the vehicle was not on an emergency response.
Norfolk Constabulary is now urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact the police via the following channels, quoting reference NC-31072026-118.
