Mahima Makwana discusses her role in ‘Musafir Cafe’ and challenges in the industry.
Mahima Makwana is currently garnering significant praise for her compelling portrayal of Preeti in the acclaimed series ‘Musafir Cafe’. In a recent interview, the actress delved into the nuances of her character, the unique experience of reuniting with co-star Vikrant Massey in ‘Musafir Cafe’ marked a significant full circle moment in Mahima’s career. The two actors had initially crossed paths years ago on the set of ‘Balika Vadhu’, making their reunion on screen particularly poignant. Reflecting on this, Mahima shared, “It’s always nice when your paths cross again with people you’ve admired. Vikrant has evolved so beautifully over the years, and it was lovely sharing screen space with him again. There’s a certain comfort because you’ve seen each other’s journeys from different phases. It’s a reminder that life comes full circle in unexpected ways.”
Mahima Makwana on Facing Preconceived Notions Post-Television
Makwana candidly admitted that transitioning from a successful career in television has not been without its challenges, particularly regarding industry perceptions. “I won’t say people openly tell you that’s the reason, but yes, there are preconceived notions. Sometimes you’re judged even before you audition because people already have an image of you,” she revealed. Rather than directly confronting these biases, Mahima has strategically chosen to let her work speak for itself. “Every project I’ve done after television has been a conscious attempt to challenge myself. It may have taken time, but I believe good work eventually changes perception,” she added, highlighting her commitment to diverse roles and challenging performances.

Salman sir has this incredible ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable. Even with such a massive presence, he’s very warm and approachable,” she recounted. Discussing the lessons gleaned from the project, she noted, “Watching him work taught me that experience brings a certain calmness. That’s something I’ve carried with me.”
