NEET PG 2026 Admit Card Set for August 27 Release: Key Exam Updates and Pattern Changes

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has confirmed that the admit cards for the NEET PG 2026 admit card will be officially released tomorrow, August 27, 2026. Registered candidates are advised to prepare their login credentials to access the portal as the exam date approaches.

Examination Schedule and Logistics

The NEET PG 2026 examination is slated to take place on August 30, 2026. The test will be conducted in a single shift, running from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

The lead-up to the exam has seen several shifts in the release schedule. Originally planned for August 27, the date was briefly moved to August 24 before being deferred again. According to reports, these adjustments were necessitated by local administrative requests from authorities in Assam and Meghalaya. NBEMS had previously issued test city intimation slips to candidates on August 12 to assist with travel planning.

Revised Exam Pattern: What Candidates Should Know

This year’s examination features a significant structural change. The paper will now consist of 180 multiple-choice questions, a reduction from the 200 questions featured in previous cycles.

  • Duration: Candidates will have 210 minutes (3.5 hours) to complete the computer-based test (CBT).
  • Time-Bound Sections: The exam is divided into five distinct sections, each containing 36 questions. Candidates are allotted 42 minutes per section. Importantly, the system is designed so that once the time for a specific section expires, candidates cannot return to those questions.
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct answer earns four marks, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.

How to Access Your Admit Card

Candidates can download their hall tickets by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official NBEMS website.
  2. Navigate to the “NEET PG 2026” section.
  3. Access the “Applicant Login” link.
  4. Enter your User ID and password.
  5. Once logged in, verify all details—including your name, roll number, category, and assigned exam center—before downloading and printing the document.

Mandatory Documents and Support

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a clear printout of their admit card along with a valid government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport).

For technical difficulties or queries regarding the admit card, candidates can contact the NBEMS helpline at 0124-6771700 or the toll-free number 1800 11 1700.

Looking Ahead: Results and Counselling

The board has set a target date of September 30, 2026, for the declaration of results. This date also serves as the final cutoff for candidates to complete their mandatory internships to remain eligible.

Following the results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to commence the counselling process between September and October 2026. The process will encompass multiple phases, including Round 1, Round 2, a Mop-up Round, and a Stray Vacancy Round. The MCC will manage the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while individual state authorities will oversee the remaining 50% State Quota seats.
