Examination Schedule and Logistics
The NEET PG 2026 examination is slated to take place on August 30, 2026. The test will be conducted in a single shift, running from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
The lead-up to the exam has seen several shifts in the release schedule. Originally planned for August 27, the date was briefly moved to August 24 before being deferred again. According to reports, these adjustments were necessitated by local administrative requests from authorities in Assam and Meghalaya. NBEMS had previously issued test city intimation slips to candidates on August 12 to assist with travel planning.
Revised Exam Pattern: What Candidates Should Know
This year’s examination features a significant structural change. The paper will now consist of 180 multiple-choice questions, a reduction from the 200 questions featured in previous cycles.
- Duration: Candidates will have 210 minutes (3.5 hours) to complete the computer-based test (CBT).
- Time-Bound Sections: The exam is divided into five distinct sections, each containing 36 questions. Candidates are allotted 42 minutes per section. Importantly, the system is designed so that once the time for a specific section expires, candidates cannot return to those questions.
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer earns four marks, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a clear printout of their admit card along with a valid government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport).

The process will encompass multiple phases, including Round 1, Round 2, a Mop-up Round, and a Stray Vacancy Round. The MCC will manage the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while individual state authorities will oversee the remaining 50% State Quota seats.
