From Recovery to Return: Rahul Roy Opens Up About Lifestyle Transformation and Acting Comeback
Years after a life-altering health crisis, iconic Aashiqui star Rahul Roy is ready to reclaim his place on screen. The actor, who became a household name overnight in the 1990s, has shared a poignant look at his difficult journey of recovery following a brain stroke, detailing the radical lifestyle changes that have defined his path to wellness.
The Road to Recovery
In 2020, while filming the project LAC — Live the Battle in the challenging climate of Kargil, Roy suffered a brain stroke that left him facing an uncertain future. Reflecting on those harrowing days, the actor admitted that he was unsure if he would ever walk or speak normally again.
“After my brain stroke, I didn’t even know if I would be able to walk or talk again,” Roy shared in a recent interview. The medical emergency required urgent care, including angiography for both his brain and heart, marking the beginning of a long and disciplined rehabilitation process.
A Disciplined New Life
To manage his health and facilitate his recovery, Roy has overhauled his daily habits. Once a self-described heavy smoker and non-vegetarian, the actor has adopted a strictly disciplined routine. He has transitioned to a vegan lifestyle, eliminating onion, garlic, and dairy from his diet—effectively adhering to Jain dietary principles.
The actor remains diligent about his health, noting that he takes eight different medications every day following breakfast. Despite these challenges, Roy maintains a positive outlook, stating that his condition is “much better now than before.”
Returning to the Spotlight
After taking time to rebuild his strength, Roy is now poised for an exciting return to acting. He is set to star in Kuku TV’s upcoming series, Super Badshah, where he will portray an underworld don alongside television actor Karanvir Bohra.
Roy admitted that he initially felt apprehensive about returning to the set, particularly due to lingering speech difficulties resulting from the stroke. However, he credited Bohra and the production team for their unwavering support. “The only thing I was sceptical about was my speech problem… but Karanvir was supportive throughout,” he noted.
This comeback follows his appearance in the 2025 psychological drama Agra, directed by Kanu Behl. As he prepares to step back into the spotlight with Super Badshah, fans and industry peers alike are celebrating the resilience of the star who captured hearts in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed classic, Aashiqui. For Roy, this new chapter is not just about a professional return, but a testament to his perseverance and dedication to a healthier, more focused life.
