Singapore Public Holidays 2027: 5 Long Weekends Await


TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Singapore‘s public holidays in 2027 have officially been unveiled by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), six months before the new year begins. 

The 2027 calendar will feature 11 public holidays, including five long weekends that give Singapore residents extra opportunities to unwind, travel, or spend quality time with family and friends throughout the year.

Singapore Public Holidays in 2027 

  1. New Year’s Day – January 1, Friday

  2. Chinese New Year – February 6-7, Saturday & Sunday

  3. Hari Raya Puasa – March 10, Wednesday

  4. Good Friday – March 26, Friday 

  5. Labour Day – May 1, Saturday

  6. Hari Raya Haji – May 17, Monday

  7. Vesak Day – May 20, Thursday 

  8. National Day – August 9, Monday

  9. Deepavali – October 28, Thursday 

  10. Christmas Day – December 25, Saturday 

Singapore Long Weekends in 2027

In 2027, five of the Singapore public holidays will fall on a Friday, Sunday, or Monday. 

On Friday: 

New Year’s Day (January 1)

Good Friday (March 26)

On Sunday:

Chinese New Year (February 7)

On Monday:

Hari Raya Haji (May 17)

National Day (August 9)

Citing Channel Asia News, employees who work on a public holiday are entitled to additional compensation. Besides receiving their gross pay for the day, they must also be paid an extra day’s salary at their basic rate of pay, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

Alternatively, employers may offer time off in lieu instead of the additional holiday compensation, provided both parties agree on the arrangement. This option applies to workmen earning more than S$4,500 per month, non-workmen earning more than S$2,600 per month, as well as all managers and executives.
