Sonos Ace Ultra Debuts with Enhanced Sound and Connectivity Features

Sonos Elevates Premium Audio Experience with the Launch of Ace Ultra Headphones

Sonos has officially expanded its high-end audio portfolio with the unveiling of the Sonos Ace Ultra, a successor to its debut pair of headphones. Available for pre-order now at $449, the new model aims to cement the company’s position in the competitive premium audio market by refining both sound fidelity and ecosystem integration.

Refined Design and Extended Performance

While the aesthetic profile of the Ace Ultra remains consistent with its predecessor, Sonos has focused on internal engineering improvements. Weighing in at 322 grams, the device is slightly heavier, a trade-off made to accommodate significant technical upgrades.

Most notably, the battery life has seen a substantial boost, jumping from 30 hours to 35 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) enabled. To complement this, the company has upgraded its noise-cancellation array, moving from eight microphones to ten, ensuring a more immersive and quiet listening environment. A welcome addition for long-term users is the inclusion of a user-replaceable battery, accessible via a dedicated kit provided by Sonos, extending the product’s lifespan.

Cutting-Edge Connectivity and Hardware

The heart of the Ace Ultra is the new “Headphone Engine 2,” which provides a more seamless and stable connection to the broader Sonos speaker ecosystem. A standout feature is the “one-button swap” functionality, which allows users to instantly transition audio from a Sonos soundbar or speaker directly to the headphones—a perfect solution for late-night television viewing without disturbing others.

Technically, the headphones are future-proofed with Bluetooth 6.0 support and compatibility with major audio codecs, including SBC, AAC, and Qualcomm aptX. For audiophiles, the device supports lossless audio and 3D audio, complemented by an advanced 8-band equalizer accessible via the Sonos app.

Precision Audio Engineering

Under the hood, Sonos has completely redesigned the 40-millimeter dynamic drivers to offer higher fidelity and a more balanced soundstage. The user experience is further polished by wear-detection sensors that automatically pause and resume playback, and a tactile multifunction button that simplifies volume control and music navigation.

Availability and Market Outlook

The Sonos Ace Ultra is being launched in four sophisticated colorways: White, Blue, Beige, and Black. As Sonos continues to lean into its connected home strategy, the Ace Ultra represents a strategic move to blend studio-grade sound with the convenience of a modern smart home.

Pre-orders are currently open, with the first units expected to ship to customers on September 29. By pairing high-end technological specifications with a competitive price point, Sonos is positioning the Ace Ultra as a formidable contender for consumers looking to upgrade their personal audio experience.
