'Vishwanath And Sons' Box Office Collection Day 2 [LIVE]: Suriya and Mamitha Baiju starrer holds strong, nears Rs 20 crore as it eyes a big weekend

Suriya’s latest cinematic offering, ‘Vishwanath and Sons,’ is demonstrating remarkable resilience at the box office, continuing its strong performance into its second day of release. Following a robust opening on Friday, the family-oriented entertainer has consistently drawn audiences, indicating a positive reception. Early critical and public reactions have been largely favorable, a factor that is expected to further propel its momentum throughout the crucial weekend period. Current live tracking data reveals the film is maintaining a healthy occupancy rate, despite a natural dip from its initial release day figures.

According to Sacnilk, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ has already amassed a net collection of Rs. 7.87 crore in India on its second day. The film is currently being screened across an impressive 2,726 shows nationwide, achieving an overall occupancy of 51.7%. The Tamil version of the film has been a significant contributor, generating approximately Rs. 4.51 crore net from 1,708 shows, with an occupancy rate of 48%. Concurrently, the Telugu version has also performed admirably, earning around Rs. 3.36 crore net from 1,018 shows, boasting a higher occupancy of 58%. With Saturday’s final figures still yet to be tabulated, industry analysts anticipate a significant surge in collections during the evening and night shows, a common trend for weekend releases.

These promising Day 2 live numbers have pushed the film’s reported cumulative India net collection to an impressive Rs. 23.02 crore, with the India gross collection reaching approximately Rs. 26.80 crore. On its opening day, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ garnered Rs. 15.15 crore net from 5,034 shows, achieving an occupancy of 42.2%. The current Day 2 collection of Rs. 7.87 crore net brings the total to Rs. 23.02 crore net. The sustained audience interest on Saturday, despite a reduced number of shows compared to Friday, is a strong indicator of the film’s appeal. This positive audience response is particularly crucial as the film heads into Sunday, a day traditionally dominated by family audiences, who are expected to significantly boost its weekend earnings. The eventual final Day 2 figures will provide a more definitive understanding of the film’s box office prowess and its potential trajectory.

‘Vishwanath and Sons’ is directed by Venky Atluri and features Suriya in the leading role. He is supported by a talented ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, Raveena Tandon, and Radikaa Sarathkumar in pivotal roles. The film masterfully weaves together elements of family emotions, romance, humor, and drama, showcasing Suriya in a refreshing, comparatively lighter role. He portrays Sanjay Vishwanath, an international pistol shooter whose life undergoes an unforeseen transformation following a significant family crisis. The film premiered on August 14th, strategically aligning with the Independence Day weekend, placing it in a competitive box office landscape alongside other releases such as ‘Batwara 1947’ and ‘Awarapan 2’. As the film’s weekend run unfolds, particular attention will be paid to its Sunday collection to ascertain whether the prevailing positive word-of-mouth can further elevate its overall first-weekend total, solidifying its position as a successful entertainment offering.
