Stanley St Peter’s CofE Primary School is celebrating an excellent Ofsted inspection outcome after securing six strong judgements across its provision.

The inspection, carried out in March 2026, judged the school to be strong in attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, early years provision, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.

Safeguarding was also confirmed to be fully effective.

Inspectors praised the school’s calm, welcoming and purposeful environment, exemplary behaviour and very positive attitudes to learning.

Teaching was recognised as consistently strong, with clear expectations and well‑structured lessons helping pupils to learn securely and confidently.

The school’s ambitious and well‑sequenced curriculum, alongside particularly strong early reading provision, was also highlighted.

The early years provision was judged to be strong, with inspectors noting that children benefit from a nurturing, well‑organised setting which gives them an excellent start to school life and supports them to become confident, enthusiastic learners.

Ofsted judged the school to meet the expected standard for achievement, noting that pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education and that published outcomes are above national averages overall.

Headteacher Michelle Wiggins said: “We are incredibly proud of this outcome.

“To be recognised as strong across so many areas under the new Ofsted framework is a real testament to the hard work, dedication and care shown by our staff every day.

“Above all, it reflects the wonderful attitudes, behaviour and enthusiasm for learning shown by our pupils, and the strength of the partnership we share with our families and the wider Stanley and Wakefield community.”
