Broadcom (AVGO) Q3 earnings report 2026

Broadcom Shares Edge Higher as AI Chip Business Powers Massive Revenue Growth

Broadcom shares saw a lift in extended trading on Wednesday after the semiconductor giant delivered a strong quarterly earnings report that underscored its pivotal role in the global artificial intelligence boom.

The company exceeded Wall Street expectations for both earnings and revenue, bolstered by an aggressive strategy to supply custom AI processors to the industry’s most prominent players. According to the company’s latest financial results, Broadcom’s revenue surged 86% year-over-year to $29.59 billion, soundly beating the $29.36 billion expected by analysts. Net income also saw a massive leap, more than tripling to $13.09 billion, or $2.68 per share.

A Powerhouse in the AI Supply Chain

Broadcom has emerged as a cornerstone of the AI revolution, securing long-term partnerships to design custom silicon for industry titans including Google, Meta, and OpenAI. The company’s stock has experienced a meteoric rise, increasing more than sixfold since the end of 2022, when generative AI platforms like ChatGPT began to reshape the tech landscape. Currently, the company boasts a market capitalization of approximately $1.8 trillion.

CEO Hock Tan outlined an ambitious roadmap for the coming years, signaling that the company is far from reaching its ceiling. Broadcom intends to ramp up shipments of specialized hardware, including:

  • Google: The company expects to supply “tens of billions of dollars” worth of tensor processing units to Google annually over the next several years.
  • OpenAI: Shipments of the custom “Jalapeno” chip are set to continue, with the AI lab already planning for second- and third-generation iterations.
  • Meta: Production shipments of custom MTIA accelerators are moving forward, optimized for large-scale inference and recommendation tasks.

Ambitious Future Projections

Broadcom’s leadership is bullish on its fiscal trajectory. CEO Hock Tan projected that the company’s AI-related revenue would double to $115 billion in fiscal 2027, with a target to double again to $230 billion by fiscal 2028.

To ensure these massive infrastructure projects move forward, Broadcom is taking a proactive financial approach. Finance chief Amie Thuener noted that the company is working closely with its strategic partners, potentially utilizing residual value guarantees as contingent liabilities to help these labs bridge the gap between heavy upfront investments and long-term cash flow.

Mixed Performance Across Segments

While the AI momentum is clear, the report highlighted a division in performance across Broadcom’s business units:

  • Semiconductors: Revenue in this segment more than tripled, reaching $16.7 billion and easily eclipsing the $15.2 billion estimate.
  • Infrastructure Software: This division generated $8.75 billion, falling slightly short of the $8.82 billion consensus estimate.

Despite a more modest stock performance so far in 2026—gaining roughly 6% compared to the S&P 500’s 12% rise—investors reacted positively to the company’s forward-looking guidance. As the demand for specialized AI hardware continues to grow, Broadcom appears positioned to remain a central architect of the infrastructure driving the future of artificial intelligence.
