World Environment Day was celebrated at The Coro on Saturday between 10am and 1pm.
Supported by Ulverston Town Council, Westmorland and Furness Council and Cumberland Council, the event was designed to educate people on the simple changes they can make in their lives to ensure that fashion ‘does not cost the Earth’.
The Coro Craft Club helped visitors create reusable cotton drawstring bags to take home, whilst St Mary’s Hospice hosted a pre-loved clothing sale.
This was complemented by a second-hand uniform rail, which encouraged donations to the Ulverston Food Project.
The councils’ waste reduction teams were also on hand to provide information about textile waste, and a ‘Textile Savvy Ulverston’ directory gave people all the details they needed to continue making environmentally friendly choices across the town.
