Bihar Government Expands TRE 4.0 Recruitment: Music Teacher Vacancies Hiked After Student Protests

PATNA: In a significant move aimed at addressing the grievances of teacher aspirants, the Bihar government has officially increased the number of music teacher vacancies under the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0. The decision follows a wave of demonstrations by candidates who had voiced concerns over the initially insufficient number of posts.

Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari confirmed that 111 additional posts have been sanctioned for music teachers catering to Classes 9 and 10. This adjustment comes as a direct response to formal representations submitted to the Education Department, which highlighted that only two vacancies had been earmarked for the subject in the initial notification.

Total Vacancies Climb to 33,385

With the inclusion of these 111 new positions, the total count of vacancies under the Bihar TRE 4.0 has now reached 33,385. Minister Tiwari stated that the department is in the final stages of preparing the revised requisition, which will be forwarded to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to update the ongoing recruitment drive.

Government Commits to Reforms

The increase in vacancies is part of a broader government strategy to stabilize the recruitment process and address student unrest. On August 27, the administration announced several critical policy shifts aimed at improving transparency and efficiency:

• Single-Phase Examination: Heeding one of the primary demands of the protesting aspirants, the government announced that the BPSC TRE will now be conducted in a single phase, streamlining the process for thousands of candidates.
• Judicial Oversight: To ensure accountability, the state has initiated the formation of a committee led by a Patna High Court judge. This body will be tasked with scrutinizing the procedures involved in conducting large-scale recruitment examinations.

A Shift Toward Proactive Governance

Minister Tiwari emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining a constructive dialogue with the student community. “Students are the future of Bihar, and we are committed to considering every reasonable demand,” he stated.

The Minister further indicated a change in operational policy, noting that, moving forward, the administration intends to notify the total number of available vacancies well in advance to prevent confusion and unnecessary anxiety among candidates.

As the BPSC prepares to finalize the recruitment parameters, thousands of aspirants are now looking toward the official commission website for updated guidelines. The government’s recent responsiveness is being viewed by education experts as a vital step in restoring confidence in the state’s massive teacher recruitment framework.
