University of Arkansas Staffer Selected for Prestigious Community Development Program
Keith Urbanski, the workforce partnerships coordinator for the University of Arkansas’s Global Campus, has been selected for a competitive three-year leadership program. Urbanski, who joined the university’s Professional and Workforce Development division earlier this year, recently completed the first year of the 40th annual Community Development Institute at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
Urbanski was one of 25 participants chosen for the Community Development Pipeline cohort, a program supported by a three-year grant from the Walton Family Foundation. The curriculum focuses on equipping leaders with the skills to strengthen local economies, identify community assets, and foster collaboration between stakeholders and businesses. His selection underscores a recognized community development vision that emphasizes long-term economic and quality-of-life improvements.
Executive Leadership Shifts at Simmons Foods
Siloam Springs-based Simmons Foods has announced a significant restructuring of its executive leadership team. Scott Salmon, formerly the president of Simmons Pet Food, has been appointed as the company’s new chief commercial officer.
In this elevated role, Salmon will oversee the enterprise’s commercial strategy, manage the branded portfolio for both Pet and Prepared Foods, and spearhead the implementation of advanced market analytics. Following Salmon’s transition, the company has promoted Jacob Rogers—previously the senior vice president of pet sales—to the position of president of Simmons Pet Food. The move is expected to bolster the company’s value proposition and build upon existing market momentum.
Visit Bentonville CEO Appointed to International Board
Kalene Griffith, the president and CEO of Visit Bentonville, has been elected to the Board of Directors for Destinations International. The election took place during the organization’s annual convention in Portland, Oregon.
As a board member, Griffith will serve a three-year term, contributing to the strategic vision of an organization that represents over 10,000 members across 800 destinations globally. Visit Bentonville, which is funded through a local lodging and dining tax via the Bentonville Advertising and Promotion Commission, plays a pivotal role in the region’s tourism and economic landscape.

In the real estate sector, Weichert Realtors has announced the addition of Blaine Glaves and Lydia Sloan to its Springdale office. The franchisor, which operates more than 300 offices across 40 states, continues to expand its footprint in the Northwest Arkansas market.
