CAPCOM Finally Fixes Dragon's Dogma 2 Biggest Flaw, As Patch 3.2 Brings Significant Performance Improvements On PC and Consoles

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sees Massive Performance Overhaul with Surprise Patch 3.2

When Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched in 2024, it was widely praised as a compelling action role-playing game, yet its debut was marred by severe performance issues across all platforms. Regardless of the hardware, players struggled with erratic frame rates and optimization challenges that hindered the overall experience. However, a major turning point has arrived: Capcom has finally fixed Dragon’s Dogma 2 performance issues with the rollout of the comprehensive Patch 3.2, which brings significant improvements to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Massive Performance Gains

While the official patch notes remained surprisingly quiet regarding technical optimizations, users immediately noticed a drastic shift in performance. Technical benchmarks, including those highlighted by Game Tester, indicate that the engine’s efficiency has been greatly improved.

On a high-end rig equipped with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti, the game previously hovered in the 80–90 FPS range in the notoriously demanding city of Vernworth. Following the update, the same setup is now pushing over 120 FPS at 1440p with max settings and ray tracing enabled. The improvements extend to mobile hardware as well; the Steam Deck—previously a challenge for the title—is now capable of maintaining a playable 30 FPS experience in dense areas using AMD FSR 3 in Performance mode.

Reports from the community on platforms like Reddit confirm that these optimizations are consistent across the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, signaling a massive win for the game’s longevity.

Gameplay Expansion: More Skills, More Freedom

Beyond the technical stability, Patch 3.2 introduces long-requested gameplay refinements. The most significant addition is the expansion of assignable weapon skills from four to six. This change fundamentally alters the flow of combat, offering players unprecedented tactical versatility. The update is a particular boon for the “Warfarer” vocation, which previously felt constrained by the limited slot system, now allowing for the level of build customization fans had been clamoring for since release.

A New Chapter for the Series

With these performance hurdles cleared and the added gameplay depth, there has arguably never been a better time to jump back into the world of Gransys. The game’s momentum is building as fans look forward to the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion, which is slated for release on October 9 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

Whether you are a veteran Arisen or a newcomer waiting for the game to reach its full potential, these updates ensure that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally the smooth, expansive RPG it was always meant to be.
