Bollywood Actor Chandrachur Singh Files FIR in Bitter Family Property Dispute

ALIGARH, India — Renowned Bollywood actor Chandrachur Singh has taken legal action against members of his own family, filing a formal police complaint regarding a long-standing property dispute. The actor, known for his roles in acclaimed films like Maachis and Josh, alleges that relatives engaged in large-scale forgery to deprive his late father of his rightful inheritance.

Allegations of Forgery

The FIR, registered at the Rorawar police station in Aligarh, accuses the actor’s aunt, Gaytri Devi, along with two cousins and four others, of orchestrating a fraudulent will dated 1997.

According to the complaint, the document was purportedly signed by Singh’s grandfather, Thakur Harender Pal Singh, a prominent landowner in Jalalpur village. However, the actor claims his grandfather was critically ill at the time and incapable of signing any legal instruments. He further alleges that his late father—the former Congress MLA Captain Baldev Singh—was intentionally bypassed through this falsified document.

Adding weight to his claims, the actor pointed out irregularities regarding the timing of the document’s execution, noting that his father was not even in Aligarh when the will was allegedly finalized. He also highlighted that another uncle, Puniya Pratap Singh, had passed away prior to the execution of the will, calling into question the validity of the proceedings.

Ongoing Conflict

The dispute, which has simmered behind closed doors for years, allegedly involves the systematic sale and disposal of valuable family assets. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Chandrachur Singh confirmed that he has submitted extensive evidence to the police and has already had his statement recorded as part of the formal investigation.

The accused party, Gaytri Devi, has previously dismissed the allegations as entirely baseless. Since the issue entered the public eye last year, she has maintained that the will is authentic and has accused the actor of attempting to implicate her in a malicious smear campaign.

With the FIR now officially registered, law enforcement authorities in Aligarh are set to examine the contested documents and verify the claims made by both sides.
