FBI Issues Arrest Warrant for Indian National Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group
WASHINGTON – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has placed an Indian national identified as Kamal on its wanted list, marking a significant escalation in the agency’s ongoing investigation into transnational organized crime syndicates operating out of India.
According to an official notice issued this week, Kamal is alleged to be a key operative within the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group. The agency stated that the criminal network, which originated in the Punjab state of India, has extended its illicit operations into the United States, specifically targeting the Central District of California and other regions.
Charges of Transnational Extortion
The federal arrest warrant for Kamal was formally issued on July 1 by the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Authorities have charged him with "Conspiracy to Interfere with Commerce by Extortion."
The FBI describes the organization as a transnational criminal enterprise that utilizes fear and intimidation to conduct its operations. By involving itself in the extortion of commercial interests, the group has drawn the focused attention of U.S. federal law enforcement, which has been intensifying its efforts to dismantle the network’s domestic influence.
A Growing Crackdown
This development comes as part of a wider, sustained crackdown by the FBI against high-profile criminal gangs with international reach. Over the past several months, federal agents have conducted a series of operations resulting in the arrests of multiple individuals linked to the Bishnoi gang, as well as the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria syndicate, both of which are under investigation for a variety of criminal activities.
The FBI has urged the public to assist in the apprehension of the suspect. "If you have any information concerning this case, please contact your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov," the agency stated.
As the investigation continues to unfold, the case highlights the growing complexity of transnational criminal groups that bridge the gap between regional gang violence in India and organized crime activities within the United States. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they are working closely with international partners to dismantle the logistical and operational infrastructure of these groups.
