Mayuko is a government official from the Japanese Ministry of Finance. As a research fellow, her interest is in sustainable finance which can adjust to structural challenges such as an aging society with a low birthrate and widening inequalities. This is partly based on her professional experience in formulating annual fiscal investment and loan program plans in the Japanese government.
Before joining IIPP, Mayuko was a master student at the University of Warwick, learning both quantitative politics and political philosophy. From this perspective, she is also passionate about understanding how political theories and quantitative evidence are adopted into implementing governmental policies.
