A decade after Bulleya from Sultan became one of Bollywood’s most-loved songs, singer Papon says the track continues to strike an emotional chord with listeners. Composed by Vishal-Shekhar with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, the song remains one of the most requested numbers during his live performances.“It’s hard to believe that Bulleya has completed ten years. Some songs become a part of people’s lives, and Bulleya is definitely one of those. No matter where I perform or travel, there’s always someone requesting me to sing it. Fans often come up to me and tell me it’s their favourite song, and that kind of love is truly priceless,” he says. What makes the milestone even more special for Papon is the song’s enduring appeal among younger listeners. “What amazes me even more is how the younger generation connects with it. Even though the song is ten years old, today’s listeners continue to discover it, relate to its emotions, and make it their own. That’s the biggest reward any singer can ask for. It reminds me that honest music has no expiry date,” he says.
