TCS Seals Landmark $1.7 Billion Deal with Porsche: $373 Million MHP Acquisition and $1.4 Billion Partnership
BENGALURU – In a move that significantly strengthens its footprint in the European automotive sector, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a monumental agreement with German sports car icon Porsche. The deal comprises a $373 million acquisition of MHP Management, Porsche’s technology and consulting subsidiary, alongside a five-year strategic partnership valued at $1.4 billion.
This high-profile TCS to acquire Porsche arm deal serves as a cornerstone for both organizations as they navigate the rapid shift toward software-defined mobility and artificial intelligence.
A Strategic AI-Led Transformation
The five-year partnership is designed to overhaul Porsche’s operational infrastructure. The collaboration will leverage AI-driven solutions to optimize Porsche’s engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise functions. By integrating TCS’s extensive expertise in digital transformation with MHP’s deep-rooted knowledge of the automotive industry, the companies aim to accelerate innovation in “software-defined mobility”—a sector rapidly becoming the primary battleground for global vehicle manufacturers.
For Porsche, the transaction aligns with its “Sportwagenschmiede 35” strategy. The luxury carmaker intends to streamline its focus on core business operations, aiming to enhance profitability and cash flow sustainability through 2035.
Strengthening Capabilities
MHP, a prominent European firm, offers a robust suite of services, including SAP transformation, AI integration, and manufacturing digitalization. Despite being acquired by TCS, MHP will maintain its independence, continuing to operate under its existing brand and management structure.
TCS CEO K Krithivasan emphasized the transformative potential of the union: “As AI, software, and data redefine the automotive industry, this partnership brings together TCS’ capabilities in AI, engineering, technology and business transformation with MHP’s strong automotive consulting expertise. Together, we will industrialize AI at scale for Porsche.”
A New Chapter for Both Firms
Dr. Michael Leiters, CEO of Porsche, echoed the sentiment, noting that the transfer of MHP to TCS allows Porsche to focus on its core competencies while gaining a powerful digital ally. “By combining Porsche’s automotive expertise with TCS’ digital technology and AI capabilities, we will further strengthen our innovative power, increase efficiency, and boost our competitiveness,” Leiters stated.
The acquisition is being conducted through Tata Consultancy Services Netherlands. Currently awaiting customary regulatory approvals, the deal is projected to close within the next three to four months.
For TCS, this deal does more than just cement a partnership with a premier luxury automotive brand; it provides a strategic beachhead to expand its AI and consulting offerings across the broader European industrial landscape. By acting as a central hub for Porsche’s digital evolution, TCS positions itself as a dominant player in the future of intelligent, connected mobility.
