UPSSSC Extends PET 2026 Registration Deadline Following Technical Glitches
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has officially announced an extension for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 registration process. Responding to widespread technical grievances, the commission has pushed the application deadline to September 7, 2026.
Addressing Candidate Concerns
The decision comes after a turbulent week for applicants attempting to register on the official portal, upsssc.gov.in. Prospective candidates flooded social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to report persistent issues with the website.
The primary hurdle cited by many applicants was the One-Time Password (OTP) verification system, which failed to deliver codes despite multiple attempts. These technical barriers left a significant number of aspirants unable to finalize their submissions before the original deadline of September 1, 2026. Recognizing the gravity of these complaints and the potential for large-scale disenfranchisement, the commission opted to provide a grace period.
Official Directive and Revised Schedule
In an official corrigendum released following the reports, the UPSSSC confirmed that the window for registration, fee payment, and final application submission has been extended.
“The corrigendum has been issued in continuation of Advertisement No. 16-Examination/2026, dated August 1, 2026,” the notice stated. While the timeline has been shifted, the commission emphasized that all other parameters—including eligibility criteria, selection methodology, and fee structures—remain strictly unchanged. Applicants who have yet to complete their UPSSSC PET 2026 registration are encouraged to utilize this extended window to ensure their applications are processed before the new September 7 deadline.
Fee Structure and Payment Options
The application fee remains consistent with the original notification:
- Unreserved/OBC Candidates: Rs 185
- SC/ST Candidates: Rs 95
- PwD Candidates: Rs 25
The commission accepts payments through a variety of digital channels, including credit/debit cards, internet banking, UPI, or through the generation of a State Bank of India (SBI) challan.
Candidates are advised to complete their applications well before the new deadline to avoid any last-minute server congestion. The full text of the official notice can be reviewed directly on the official UPSSSC website.
