Arun Matheswaran’s recent cinematic offering, ‘DC’, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj in his acting debut as the character Devadas, has successfully maintained a consistent performance at the box office, now reaching its tenth day in theaters. The film has demonstrated a steady collection trajectory, showcasing its appeal to audiences.
According to figures from Sacnilk, ‘DC’ garnered an India net collection of Rs 4.50 crore on its tenth day. While this represents an 18.2% decrease from the Rs 5.50 crore earned on its ninth day, the film’s overall performance remains robust. This tenth-day collection was achieved across 2,216 shows nationwide, contributing to an impressive cumulative India net collection of Rs 54.76 crore. When factoring in the India gross, the total stands at Rs 63.06 crore.
The film’s reach extends beyond domestic borders, with the overseas market adding a significant Rs 1 crore on Day 10. This brings the total overseas gross to Rs 21.25 crore, pushing the worldwide gross collection for ‘DC’ to a remarkable Rs 84.31 crore.
The movie’s financial journey has seen some fluctuations throughout its second week, following a strong opening week that concluded with an India net collection of Rs 41.90 crore. Notable daily figures in the second week include Rs 5.25 crore on Day 6 and Rs 4.15 crore on Day 7. On Day 10 specifically, the Tamil version led the collections with Rs 3.30 crore, while the Telugu version contributed Rs 1.18 crore. The Hindi version, however, had a more modest contribution of Rs 2 lakhs.
Analyzing audience engagement, the Tamil version of ‘DC’ exhibited particularly strong occupancy rates on its tenth day, with an overall occupancy of 60.51%. Morning shows recorded 36.62% occupancy, which then surged to an impressive 67% during afternoon screenings. Evening and night shows maintained solid numbers at 55.46% and 54.23% respectively. In contrast, the Telugu version reported a lower overall occupancy of 33.64%, with morning shows at 21.33%, afternoon screenings at 38.44%, evening shows at 33.67%, and night shows at 35.67%.
Geographically, Tamil Nadu proved to be a pivotal market for ‘DC’ on Day 10, contributing a substantial Rs 1.61 crore to the day’s gross collection. Kerala also played a significant role, adding Rs 1.60 crore, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 1.35 crore. Karnataka accounted for Rs 60 lakhs, and the remaining Indian markets collectively added Rs 5 lakhs. This brings the film’s total India gross for Day 10 to Rs 5.21 crore.
Adding to the film’s growing acclaim, celebrated Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu publicly lauded ‘DC’ after viewing it. Taking to the social media platform X on August 16, he expressed his admiration, tweeting, “#DC… what an original and outstanding film Just too cool… Loved every bit of it!! Congrats to the entire team…” Such high praise from a prominent entertainment figure further underscores the film’s impact and quality.
